Bogotá, the capital of
Colombia, is located in a central position in the country. It is located in the
homonymous Bogotá savannah, on the Cundiboyacense plateau of the Andean eastern
mountain range at an altitude of 2,640 meters above sea level.
Bogotá is specifically
located in the center of Colombia, in the eastern Andean mountain range.
Basically, Bogotá rests on an irregular plateau still in the process of
formation, bordering the municipalities of Chía, the Páramo de Sumapaz and
Soacha, and also adjoins Mosquera and Funza.

Distrito Capital. It is the most populous city in the country with an impressive
8,081,000 inhabitants. The Capital District of Bogotá has a total area of 1,732
km2, including the town of Sumapaz.
